Principal Lighting Designer
Tim Linamen is the founder and Principal Lighting Designer of Point of Light. The company name was changed from Linamen Lighting Design Services in 2001 and was incorporated in 2009.
As the Principal Designer on each project that Point of Light is involved in, Tim strives to integrate all elements of lighting design to enhance every project to its full potential. He works closely with the client as well as each discipline involved in the project to understand all of the requirements and expectations. From the art directors and other designers to the architects and engineers, from the installation teams to the maintenance staff, his goal is to ensure that the final product creates the best possible visual impact while still managing expectations, budgets and environmental impact in a maintenance friendly manner.
Tim endeavors to be current on all of the latest technology available in the fast paced lighting field. Bringing his personal attention to each and every design, throughout the process, is one of the things that sets Point of Light apart from other lighting design firms.
With previous backgrounds in photography and graphic design, lighting was a natural fit for Tim and he has been designing lighting for theatrical productions for nearly 30 years. Tim shifted into lighting design for themed environments and permanent installations as the theme park industry grew and clients such as Universal Studios saw a need for independent designers.
Originally from New York, Tim moved to the central Florida area with his family when his father was hired to work on the construction of the Magic Kingdom for the Walt Disney World Company where he helped construct the original Cinderella’s castle spires, among other works.
Tim has a broad range of design experience including theatrical, dance, concert, music videos, night clubs, cruise ships, retail spaces, films, special events, theme park attractions and aquariums.
